Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer to protect and manage the company’s intellectual property assets. The IP Lawyer will be responsible for advising on all matters related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, as well as handling IP litigation and licensing agreements. The ideal candidate should have strong legal expertise in intellectual property law, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record of managing IP portfolios.

Responsibilities:

  • IP Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to protect the company’s intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Patent and Trademark Filing: Oversee the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent and trademark applications, both domestically and internationally.
  • IP Portfolio Management: Manage the company’s IP portfolio, ensuring proper maintenance, renewal, and enforcement of IP rights.
  • Legal Advice: Provide legal advice and guidance on intellectual property matters, including IP risk assessment, infringement, and licensing.
  • IP Litigation: Represent the company in IP-related disputes and litigation, working with outside counsel as needed.
  • Contract Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements, including licensing, joint development, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • IP Due Diligence: Conduct IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions, assessing the value and risks associated with IP assets.
  • Compliance and Enforcement: Monitor the market for potential IP infringements and take appropriate action to enforce the company’s IP rights.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide training to employees on IP-related topics to ensure understanding and compliance with IP policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience as an Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and contract drafting abilities.
  • Experience managing IP litigation and working with outside counsel.
  • Ability to work independently and make strategic decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
