Job Summary

We are looking for a creative and passionate Fashion Designer to join our design team in Colombo. As a Fashion Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing fashion collections that reflect current trends while incorporating local cultural elements. Responsibilities:

  • Collection Development: Develop seasonal collections, including sketches, fabric selection, and garment construction, ensuring the designs are marketable and commercially viable.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are accurately translated into final products, maintaining quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Sample Creation: Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, making necessary adjustments to fit, materials, and design elements.
  • Client Engagement: Engage with clients and buyers to understand their needs and preferences, incorporating feedback into the design process.
  • Brand Representation: Represent the brand at fashion shows, trade fairs, and other industry events, showcasing collections and networking with industry professionals.
  • Sustainability Practices: Incorporate sustainable and ethical practices in design and production, in line with industry standards and company values.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of design specifications, production processes, and materials used for each collection.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Fashion Designer, with a portfolio showcasing original designs and collections.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and textile technologies.
  • Creative flair and an eye for detail, with the ability to translate ideas into marketable products.
  • Excellent sketching, illustration, and computer-aided design (CAD) skills.
  • Understanding of the fashion market and cultural influences on design.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of sustainable fashion practices is an advantage.
